The Meeting announces music and fashion shows
An electronic line-up of Lance Herbstrong and Robotic Pirate Monkey will accompany movies and the D&E Fashion Show at Belly Up Aspen during The Meeting 7.
The Meeting is the premier gathering of snowsports filmmakers, athletes, sponsors, media and fans. This event will once again deliver a packed schedule of the top 2011-2012 ski and snowboard movies in Aspen, Colo., Sept. 29 through Oct. 1.
Highlighted below are the newly announced events as well as a complete schedule of movies.
Thursday, September 29 – 10 p.m.
D&E Fashion Show featuring Burton’s Standing Sideways & Performance by Robotic Pirate Monkey
After the annual NEPSA Video Awards at the Wheeler Opera House on Thursday, September 29, the D&E Fashion Show will showcase all the newest trends for the 2011-2012 ski season at Belly Up Aspen featuring the following brands: Burton, Smith, Oakley, Volcom, Analog, Bonfire, 686, Anon, Skullcandy, Special Blend, Dragon, Voleurz, Electric and more.
Then a showing of Burton’s Standing Sideways will be followed up with a performance by Robotic Pirate Monkey – a trio of DJs out of Boulder, Colo. who mix dubstep with the familiar sounds of pop, rock, hip-hop and soul music.
Burton’s Standing Sideways was filmed on location wherever good snow was found, and features the riding of professional snowboarders Terje Haakonsen, Nicolas Müller, Jussi Oksanen, Jeremy Jones, Danny Davis, Mikey Rencz, Frederik Kalbermatten, Keegan Valaika, Mikkel Bang, Kazu Kokubo, Mark Sollors, Zak Hale, Mark McMorris, Ethan Deiss, Alex Andrews and Stephan Maurer.
Friday, September 30 – 9 p.m.
Voleurz, Teton Gravity Research & after party with a bonfire at the top of Aspen Mountain
The Silver Queen Gondola starts running at 9 p.m. and will take guests to the Sundeck for That’s Fine by Voleurz and the anticipated showing of One For The Road by Teton Gravity Research. A bonfire and after party at the Sundeck will follow.
Saturday, October 1 – 11 p.m.
Movies by Videograss, Pirate Movie Production & Performance by Lance Herbstrong
After Matchstick’s Attack of La Niña at the Wheeler Opera House the closing party will move over to the Belly Up Aspen for showings of Videograss’ Retrospect and Pirate Movie Production’s Bottom Line followed up with a performance by Lance Herbstrong. Lance Herbstrong combines an electronic DJ set with a live band and is sure send the guests of The Meeting 7 off in one last dance party in celebration of the upcoming season.
Tickets are now on sale for events at the Wheeler Opera House, the Sundeck and Belly Up Aspen. Each screening at the Wheeler includes two movies (with the exception of Brain Farm’s The Art of Flight) and tickets are $10 per screening. Sundeck pricing is $15.
