Phat food at Fat City Plaza: The 520 Grill
Mouth-watering food at affordable prices is what you'll find at the newest eatery in Aspen's Fat City Plaza.
520 Grill features half-pound, hand-crafted burgers (buffalo, beef or turkey), all-beef kosher hot dogs and turkey dogs, scrumptious grilled sandwiches (salmon, chicken, veggie or pulled pork) and creative salads (Chipotle Caesar, Kale and Quinda, Southwest Mixed Green and the Veggie Farmer). At 520 Grill, no fixing is spared and if you order a bacon burger, they'll grind the bacon into your burger meat). Fresh-cut fries, sweet potato fries and house-made potato chips come as sides at the low-key establishment. There also “rolladillas,” which are rolled flour tortillas stuffed with sirloin, chicken or veggies. The 520 Grill replaces Noodles by Kenichi, the first eatery to debut in the new Fat City Plaza.Aspen native Wheaton Augur (a private chef) and longtime local Troy Selby (formerly of Cantina and Lucci's) opened the grill because they love the mountains, they love to cook and the right space opened up at the right time.
Burgers and sandwiches start at $5.95, a quesadilla is $4.95, and almost everything on the menu is under $10 (the exception being the ahi tuna and salmon sandwiches that run $10.95).The no-frills 520 Grill is located on 520 Durant Ave. and, keeping true to form, it opened May 20. It's located in Fat City Plaza, which is downstairs a few steps from Bad Billy's.
